Hey guys just wanted to drop in and say hi to all the members here.
This forum has been immensely helpful with helping me learn about and really appreciate the RC-51 for what it is.
Definitely seems to be a much more mature crowd here not talking about squidish things like wheelies and such.
Anyway enough with the rambling.

Currently we have a 2004 Honda RC-51 which we purchased for $4000 dollars with about 8000 miles and a bunch of good modifications. Jardine RT-1, K & N, Vortex Sprockets -1+2, Renthal Racing Chain, Power Commander III USB, and CRG Shorty Roll-A-Click levers.

Right now I'd personally like to buy one myself and a 2004 RC-51 with 11,000 miles was recently listed for sale near me for $6500. The bike has never tipped over or crashed. Recently serviced. Two Brothers Slip-On exhaust. The bike is however missing mirrors. The seller said he wont go under 6k for the bike which I think is a bit overpriced but most bikes in SoCal are overpriced with the year round riding.

What would you guys consider a fair price for the bike as it sits now? I'm seeing the bike this weekend so there may be more to it.

William

Yes i think the 04 is overpriced. There was a real clean 05 with 14000 miles going to 6200$ a week ago. Anyway welcome to the forum.

I paid well under 6000.00 for a bone stock 2004 with only 1200.00 original miles.

You aren't in California..now if you ever sell, thats where you send it. I have sent several of my former toys to Florida to sell them. Their market usually dictate a higher price.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies.
Yes definitely agree that CA prices are a bit higher than other parts of the country.
I'll be back this weekend to update you guys on the bike and ask what you guys think price wise

In case any of you wanted to see the bike I'm talking about it's here.

What price range would you guys say this is worth as it sits right now?

The asking prices are. But when people tell you what they actually paid...
We're heading into the holiday season. I bet inventory will pick up just a little, and final selling prices will fall. It's a double edge sword, when you own one, you want a healthy resale value. When you're buying, well...
That said, in today's market, I think a better deal will come along soon.
imo

Here are some ads for rc51's in LA. Sandiego prices for any bikes are inflated and for some reason they end up getting close to what they ask for if they are not in a hurry to sell. Check these adds all of them are asking under 5K. I dont think the 04 is worth paying 6000. I would say Max 5K and thats only if its really in mint condition without a scratch. Best of luck.

I personally like 04 ones because they have the white and chrome theme.
I know these motors pretty much run forever with proper maintenance but just still a bit wary of high mileage used bikes.

Oh well we'll see if I can strike a deal. Hopefully I can for under 5K if its perfect. Probably gonna start at 4K though.

Did any of you ride the bike back after you bought it or truck it back?
