Hello From Indiana!!

Hello guys!
New to the forums here and new to the RC51!!
I'm not new to riding or owning Hondas. Ive been playing with old vintage Honda CB750s for years now.Building cafe bikes and choppers or just enjoying my stock 1977. The last new bike I bought myself was a 2000 CBR 600F4.
Now here I am at 39 years old and finally found my dream bike. I've wanted an RC51 ever since 2000 when I bought the CBR! Anyway just a week ago I stumbled across a super clean 2002 RC51 with only 9000 miles on it, I didn't even think twice about it. This has only been the second time in seven years one has come up for sale local to me and in absolute stunning condition. The one I found seven years ago was 100% stock with 4000 miles at a dealer but I wasn't in the financial position to buy it.

Bikes from my past.
1978 CM400 Hawk II (learned to ride at 16)
DR 650 enduro
2000 CBR 600F4 (bought new in 99, smacked a deer in 2002)
1978 CB750SS
1974 CB750K
197? CB360 (Had two of them)
1975 CB550SS
1978 CB550k
2000 Buel X1 Lighting (wreck I bought and put back on the road) And a total POS in general.
1977 CB750K (currently own)
1970's Amen Savior choppers (currently own 2)
2002 RC51!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now about the bike I have!!!
As mentioned its a 2002 with 9000 miles.
Mods that I can see so far is as follows.
Black "03" tail section
Two Brothers slip on's
Power commander III
Dassault undertail and L.E.D's
15/41 sprockets
And the (I think you guys call it the flapper?) has been disconected.

Its killing me right now to see this thing sitting in my garage and not be able to ride. NW Indiana weather sucks, But that gives me time to do some small things to the bike and be ready for spring.
Ill do maintenance like plugs and oil changes, Im not happy with the TBR slip on's. They fit like crap. Not much left on the market for pipes nowadays I see. But I am finding Yosh slip ons on ebay so I will probably go that rout. I had a Yosh on my old CBR and was very pleased with the fitment. Or if you guys know of better options Im all for it.

Welcome to the asylum! I have Yosh pipes on mine and I have zero complaints, great sound, good fit, and look ok too.

Duct tape can't fix stupid...but it sure helps muffle the sound

If you look at some pictures on Google etc... you will see things like:

Wing pattern is different

The tail on the '03 is black with silver decals, '02 is silver w/ flat black decals

Tank on the '02 I don't believe had the gold outline around the wing

The Upper fairing (Nose area) has a differing pattern as well.

The '03's are rumored to be the fastest year, but I haven't seen the Wikipedia update.

that's all I got.

Also the 03 have a black V between the headlights and around the air in take. While all the other years have a large number plate in black or white on the 04.

HMMMM? You guys are right I think I have an 02 with 03 plastic. I thought only my tail had been swapped. My nose also has a narrow black stripe between the head lights that runs down around the intake. My title, frame sticker and neck stamping all have the same VIN with a build date of February 02. My bike was originally owned by a Honda shop tech down in Indianapolis, so who knows what or why things have been changed?
