Hello everbody.....

My name is Makis and I am reading this forum for the last 4 years occasionally so I felt that I should sign up too at some point.

I live in southern Greece where I grew up and I bought an RC51 2000 model on April 2008. I love this bike since the day I first saw it on a Honda dealer's brochure back in Octomber 1999.
I finally got the money to buy it in a very good price.

By "good price" I mean for Greece standard's. The bike was sold to me for 7500 euros which at the time was like $10.000
It was all the way stock apart from the Marchesini wheels and the Ohlins rear shock that the previous owner had installed.

Once I find some free time, I will make a thread with all the mods I've made on it.
I am sorry if my spelling has some flaws. I speak english quite good (I think) but I lack on expretions a bit. Thank God, I still have the rest of my life to learn

Yeah, I like reading but my free time is limited so I don't like to just sign up in any interesting forum I come across and then disappear for a long time. I believe it is better to sign up and explore the forum for a while and get the idea of it before you move on to another one. On the other hand keeping up with 10 or 20 forums at the same time is not my thing

Welcome, Makis!

I remember arriving on a Ferry from Brindisi to Greece (Forget the port) after a long ride on two big trials bikes all the way from the UK about 20 years ago without using highways the entire trip.
Early in the morning we were riding along and found big tortoises crossing the road...! Stopped and helped the slow buggers, as we didn't want to see them crushed by trucks!

Greece is a lovely place and after 6 summer hols became my favourite of all holiday destinations in Europe. Loved windsurfing the crazy meltemi winds and the beauty of sea surrounding the cyclades islands and of course the colours of classic style country architecture. I haven't visited since moving to Japan 13 + years ago. Miss Greek culture, food, wine & of course friends! Must take my wife & kids there someday when the little ones are old enough to appreciate it.
Enjoy the RC51. That's quite an unusual bike to have in Greece and your's is probably extra special too!. Of course you know the road surfaces aren't all that grippy there, so ride safe!

Welcome Makis. Great peeps here, and lots of very knowledgeable ones too. Don't worry about your English... it's light years ahead of my Greek!

The port you probably mean is Igoumenitsa. Otherwise you disembarked in Patra's port.
Greece is beautiful, that true but our guys in power do everything they can to destroy it. Anyway, if you decide to come, let me know. We can meet, have a cup of coffee or something and help you out if you need anything. My email address is in my profile's data.
I surely know about our iceskating roads since I ride all my motorcycles on them since 1992. Thaks for your concern anyway though!
