Welcome to the forum.
Blue hair? I don't know about that, unless you dye it LoL!
I have a couple grandkids too, and just happen to have recently rebuilt a 79 goldwing. I pretty much had to go completely thru it: water pump, restore the completely rusted gas tank, several rad flushes, clutch plates, a bunch of electrical issues, complete overhaul of the carbs, and now I'm waiting on parts to rebuild the front calipers and master cylinder. Very close to being road worthy, but I don't know if I'm going to like riding it. If I can't improve upon the suspension, she's going up for sale.
Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy the SP1. I also have a 2000 which I've had for 4 years now. Probably won't EVER sell this one!

Welcome, Gmc1per. Go through the bike carefully, service it well and it'll pay dividends.

John, your GW will never handle or brake particularly well compared to say an RC51 it's miles apart, but it can be improved a little with custom replacement parts. All depends on how much money you want to plough into her!

Euro RC51 SP2: HRC WSB Ti Hi-Level, T1 Airbox & Snorkel, PCIII, Dymag CA5 Carbon Wheels, Ti64 Spindles (F, R & Swing Arm), Mori Link, Maxton GP7 Shock & Ohlins 832 Forks, Brembo GP Calipers & SBK narrow track (F), Braketech Disc (R), Brembo billet Underslung x 2 Brembo RCS, Tyga Triple, 7075 Stem, Probolt Titanium all over, Babyface rearsets, MR Complete Carbon Lineup, Custom Undertail & CBR 1000 LED, Watsen LED Indicators, Harris Brace, Giles clip-ons, Corbin seat, etc. 2013 BOTY.

Welcome, and yeah, not sure about the blue hair either

John, what Stig said. In my PM I forgot that it was a 79 so forgive me that one.

Duct tape can't fix stupid...but it sure helps muffle the sound

Good luck on bringing it back to service.

Yeah, I don't know....
I gotta admit, it was a fun project rebuilding the carbs. The rest of the bike is pretty easy to work on too.
