New guy in Jersey

Hello everyone! I just purchased my very own RC51 tonight! I'm super excited like a kid on Christmas morning x 1,000,000. I'm hitting the DMV at 8am to get her registered and on the road for few rides before the season ends. I have to take it easy on her for bit till I get my riding legs back under me since it's been about 14 years since I've riden anything. I had a CBR600F2(smoking Joe's)and during that time I got a chance to ride an RC SP1 and fell in love, since then it's been my dream bike. I sold my 600 and used some of the money to go microsprint racing(maybe some of you know what this is but if not look it up, cheapest form of fast dirt track racing there is IMO) and now I had the funds to put some fun back in my life since 10 years ago I had to quit racing due to the normal you know marriage, house, kids, kids, did I mention kids? They aren't cheap!!
Anyway I always wanted one and now here I am with one in my garage, waiting to get registered and out on the pavement. I'm sure the power will shock the shit out of me all over again like it did back then, and my rational mind told me to start back on a 600 but that's all a moot point now! Got my dream bike, going to baby her a bit at first, then next season new rubber and it's on!

Smokinjoe, yea I loved my SJ 600. It was 9 years old I think when I bought it but Honda was so ahead of the game in styling and handling for that time everyone thought it was almost new. I could hang with a lot of newer bikes which really surprised me but everyone rides at different skill levels so that's always hard to compare. That bike was also pretty comfortable for me but I seem to have a butt made for bikes, I really haven't been on one that makes me that uncomfortable. Even yesterday I was more than fine, no fatigue just fun and I know a lot of guys complain about the comfort of the RC(but I was also full of adrenaline and smiling from ear to ear so I guess I'll get back to you on that haha). The exception to that is my brother-in-laws Kawasaki cruiser.... that was really uncomfortable and awkward, not the ride but it was my first cruiser bike and putting your feet out in front is way too awkward for me and I looked like a fool trying to find the pegs every stop sign!

Hey! Awesome glad to hear! Yes my bike is treating me well, sheís been away for winter and Iím ordering new rubber this week since Iím thinking about another month before the season really gets underway. Had a little F1 light problem but I believe it might have something to do with the speed sensor, hasnt popped up in a while though. Hope yours is treating you well too, ttyl.

Welcome DonMatney. I thought at first that I had seen your bike advertised locally here in NorCal, but if you are in Jersey, I must have seen it on Ebay or something. I recognize the two first pics you posted though. Were those from the sale ad? There was another SP1 I contemplated purchasing here, I think I mixed that one up with yours. Congrats on the purchase!

Nice Old Harley you got there! Mind if I kick it over?

Russ, I donít know if it was ever on EBay, I got it off Craigslist. The guy barely rode it or maintained it. He says he did but I asked simple questions that let me know he just rode it and put it away.

Iím ordering new rubber this week and I think Iím going with a 190/55 (as I gather from most on here thatís the way to go) rear pilot power 3s. Currently on a 180/50.

My dad is going down to NC the end of April riding, he says if I can go Iíll never want to ride up here again!

Maybe that's where I saw it. It looks real familiar. Glad you snagged it!
