DIY Fork spring tool.

I'm in the process of doing a fork rebuild thanks to the earlier post. I had an idea for a fork spring tool that I thought I would share. Since I already had the floor jack I scrounged an old shelf leg out of the warehouse at work. I got a scrap piece of steel tube from one of the plants I work with. The only thing I paid for was a piece of threaded rod. So I have about $3 invested. I think a steel pipe coupling would work and be a cheap substitute for the steel ring.

That is a good idea. My question is to replace the seal is it necessary to remove the whole assembly from the triple tree? I just had mine replaced and he just pulled the slider out on the bike. I only ask this because I have a thread started on the tech talk I have a leaking fork seal still after having it replaced twice in less that a week?

If your seal is gone likely the upper and lower bushings need to be replaced as well. At least the lower. I'll post a pic of mine but over half of the copper was gone. I'm also replacing all the o-rings. Taking the fork out is really not bad at all.
