RC51 Slash-Cut Intake Bell-Mouths

Well I got the slash cut bell-mouths done for my RC51. Here is a picture of the slash-cut between the long and short OEM bell-mouths. The slash-cuts are the same height on the long side as the OEM long part and in the short side are the same length as the short OEM part. Here is also a picture of the OEM parts installed on my spare throttle bodies and a picture with the slash-cuts installed. The Arctic front just hit here and it will probably be a week or ten days before it will warm back enough for me to work in the garage again.

If you're wondering about the cutouts that are in the OEM parts to clear the structure in the air box, I am running a Turn-One and have filled them in because there are no clearance issues except with the air cleaner. I'll address that when I install them in the bike.

Well that seems unlikely.

Come to think of it I think I traded him that oven for an 8-Ball and a bottle of Bombay Sapphire.

You mean because of the Carrozeria color matched wheels or the powdercoated oem wheels?

I finally got a break in the weather and have the slash-cut bell-mouths installed on the RC. Here are a couple of photos of the installation. I have not been able to ride it yet because of my wife being in the hospital due to an injury she suffered in an accident. Fortunately she is responding well to the treatment and will be back home shortly.

Based on my experience with replacing the existing bell-mouths on my 2011 CBR1000RR with the slash-cut bell-mouths from the European 2015 CBR1000RR SP, I found that the power was much more linear all across the rev range. I had been running a pair of the long bell-mouths in the RC51 because I mostly commute with it. The looked like an interesting experiment. I don't expect to see any performance gain, only a more linear power spread. The theory behind the slash-cuts are that the long side is the same length as the longer OEM part and the short side is the same length as the short OEM part. Therefore, there should be no "sweet spots" and they should be effective at most all RPM.
