Question Repaint the white lettering on the ignition key switch

With winter down time, for some basic detailing I found an easy and quick fix for the worn out look of many ignition key switches where the white lettering is worn off. Basically all of the stamped information loses its white paint.

I got some white paint at a hobby store. Then after a quick shake to mix it I used a toothpick to apply the paint to all the lettering. Don't be shy about over applying it. The stamped information will wick the white paint in. Then use a tissue to lightly brush off the excess paint. Don't press too hard or you'll remove the white paint from the stamped areas too. With a light to moderate touch the wicking action will keep white paint in the stamped areas.

Success here.

Excellent job there!

I guess it would be the same procedure to do that on the sprocket's cover to high light the gears positions

I would go bright red down there though!

I think I'll try the same on my 9mm's rear sight. It's chipped up that paint from carrying it. Good idea, thanks for sharing.

Thx

What started out as unbelievably hard looking turned into one of the easiest jobs I've done. The lettering is extremely small and intricate. But just over-apply some paint and wipe. The wicking action will keep the stamped lettering intact with white paint. It took me 3 minutes.

I've done this on my pistol engravings, I used white nail polish and nail polish remover to lightly buff the extra off the surface, looks amazing! Awesome idea!
