Ohlins rear and Elka front

OK,
I got the scoop from the guys who did the suspension for my 2005 RC. Well, bottom line is the stock suspension as a whole is pure junk unless it was built after 2011. Anyway, I had the common Ohlins rear shock without link and Elka front 20mm springs and valves replaced. Worth it, even for the road tripper or canyon carver.

After the first 1000km on your new bike, there will be a TON of black crap in the fork oil that will disgust you! By getting the low down on how the complete system works, I can now adjust every aspect for riding in any configuration including, sag, ride height, swing arm angle, etc.

So, for you guys on the fence about upgrading your suspension, just friggen do it! After $1700 CAD, I am pleased and this will probably be the best upgrade I did to my RC.

Cheers!

Awesome to hear...yes I won't chase horsepower but a well sorted chassis does wonders for the riding and the confidence.

Someone here got a very good deal on my re-valved forks...they just made me smile all day long and I'm glad to pass them on to a fellow rider.

Good information for everyone here. It has been discussed that the stock suspension on the RC could be improved and probably one of the best mods one can do for the bike.

Glad you did it and enjoy the benefits!

2001 SP1 (sold)
2004 SP2 (properly stored)
2012 Ruckus (stolen)
2015 Grom (under construction)

Weyrauch pronounced (Y Rock)...Rock for short.

I was on the fence as well, but I finally gave in after reading more about how this setup would improve every aspect of the ride for the RC51. Yes it's an expensive mod, but totally worth every penny
