SP2 fork preload adjuster stuck

Hi guys-

I've learned a lot from this excellent forum, but am now stymied.

After rebuilding my forks, one of the spring preload adjusters will not turn. I have tried turning it both ways as hard as I dare with no success.

I have loosened and removed the 8-sided nut with no effect. It feels like the threaded adjuster is frozen to the inner threaded portion of the fork cap.

With a wrench on the flats of the adjuster, there is a small amount of rotation in each direction before it feels like a very solid stop.

I'm planning on pulling the fork out and apart again on Saturday but wondered if this is anything one of you more experienced people have encountered. I would certainly like to save unneeded work if possible!

Thanks in advance!

Bob

Were you able to fix this issue, I have the same exact bike and have the same exact problem. Thank you.

Never had this problem.
Don't immediately see how this is possible, since to adjust preload, the adjust case is rotated via the preload adjuster nut on top of the fork, which then rotates the adjust case inside and in turn, rotates the adjuster plate in the threaded interior of the fork cap, which then travels up or down to add or remove fork spring preload.

I can only think the adjust plate may be cross-threaded or the adjust case was not fitted into the adjust plate grooves?

Let us know what the cause was.
