Deal on a Penske, but question?

I can get a deal on a Penske shock. It is off an SP1, but I have an SP2. Are they different shocks, or can I use an SP1 Penske on an SP2? Also, how much would you pay for a used one?

I paid $450 for a used one and another $180 to rebuild ($80 of that was a new spring for my man sized frame.) and recharge the nitrogen

What do you think of the shock?

I have not installed it yet. If your bike is for mostly street use, it's got to be better than OEM.

There is a rear suspension buying guide in the suspension forum that will help.

And you can confirm fitment by speaking with Penske.

The guy does not know which model this shock is. From these pictures would you guys be able to tell me? I want to make sure it has ride height adjustment, and high & low speed compression. Also, what are your comments on its condition?

I'd have a used shock refreshed unless provided with proof of recent work. And that should factor into price. It looks like an 8987 remote reservoir (but I'd get proof or someone else's input here). It appears to have high/low speed compression adjustment and it has ride height adjustment.

Condition is dirty, which makes it harder to determine. Cleaned up would help. It does look to be in good condition with that caveat (and could be better).

Looks like an 8981.
It has the high/low speed compression adjuster, but this one has screw type rebound adjuster, as opposed to the ring like on current Penske shocks (similar to Ohlins shocks).
