silly ? about rear shimming for shock

Hey ya'll, i know there are lots of threads about rear shocks, what i want to know is whats the easiest method of raising up the subframe in order to add a couple of washers to the top of the shock mount. I have pitbull front and rear stands but would a floor jack help or what? I just dont want to take the chance of my bike being unstable while i do this. Thanks guys

I've used jack-stands under my rearsets to hold the bike up. If you have aftermarket rearsets that don't fold, this may work for you.

slot the spacers so you don't need to take the top mount off, get a mate to take the weight off the rear by tipping it up on the side stand and slot a shim or two in

You can also use a section of rebar and run it through the swingarm pivot, and support the bike on jack stands.

For the long term, I bought a paddock stand that supports the bike at the swingarm pivots.
And has been like that for far too long...
