Question Traxxion Maxton Action

Hello from London,

The picture attached shows new Traxxion fork valving on the left and what I believe and recall is Maxton (a British suspension firm) valving on the right, which is currently fitted.

The obvious problem is that the Maxton attaches to the rod with a threaded male holder and the Traxxion with a female.

Two questions: is the standard Showa valve holder male or female? Parts fiches don't show this level of detail.

Second, any thoughts on what to do? Rebuild project on hold until I can figure this out. Looking forward to hearing from some good experts on the Forum.

Adam, London

I've never understood why they don't just replace the valve & shim stack (as an assembly) onto the OEM holder like we do with the Ohlins piston kit. So simple... Works great with no special needles, adapters or rods etc.

Well indeed. The answer, it turns out, is that Maxton amend the rod too. Hence why the Traxxion, which fits the standard Showa set-up, won't fit. Ohlins might have been cheaper at this rate...
