Gauge backlighting

I noticed something interested while watching some videos, my gauge cluster has different color back lighting in the videos. I took a screen shot and was wondering what would cause this. The videos are under similar lighting conditions and I took a screen shot in the same area for comparison.

Is there a reason for that? I just assumed it was always on, since the headlights were always on. Is there a sensor or something that turns it on and off depending on sunlight conditions? or did i manually turn it on and off? or is it malfunctioning by turning on and off itself?
