For experienced exhaust guys only

I was gettin out my was recently and at the junction across the road from me a Ducati appeared. Im not a fan of Ducatis, but i couldnt believe how amazing this thing sounded. Seriously, it was the most beautiful motorbike ive ever heard and im sure it must have been down to his exhaust cans.

It looked like a special edition, it was one of the old 90's 966 bikes but it was black and gold. Im hoping that it must have come with a special exhaust as part of the special edition package, (probably Termignoni or something like that). Anyone know what im talking about?

It was bloody loud, but i want that exhaust!

The shorter GP cans get pretty loud and sound good, but I like the longer cans like sato's to give the deep bass that the gp cans just don't have. I'm talking about Ti, not carbon.

What exhaust are you running now?

Rather than cans, I'd say a full titanium system. Ti has a different resonant frequency than stainless steel and this is a contributing factor to the sound an exhaust makes. I've seen the same effects on cars with identical design of exhaust systems, but there is a distinct difference in sound between Titanium & (stainless) Steel. Not hard to tell the difference with two cars side by side.

he likely had the full 60+mm Termi system, those suckers are loud (for the short time the bike manages to stay running)

personally ive always liked the larger cans (Mori, sato, TsR). they dont idle as loud but the sound under load/speed has more bass to is. The HRC replica is the nicest full system, besides the akra full, but really the slipons on OEM header with properly sized mufflers is about as good as it get for the RC (Mori, Sato, LBP)

im currently running Moriwaki ZERO Ti Highmounts that have stainless mids. I have noticed anything with a full Ti sleeve has a much "tight" sound while revving and the carbon has always had a much more loose "flutter". Low mounts are almost always slightly louder

just my .02c

LB low mounts would be a nice addition for you PB.....while the LB full exhaust is nice, its just not practical for most folks. (Some have paid as much for an exhaust as their whole bike)

I am enjoying the LB banzai set up, its still loud but moves the noise behind me which helps keep my hearing in tact.

Just bear in mind (see what i did there?) that our bikes will never sound quite like a Ducati, differences in cam timing and compression ratios make a big difference.
