Ohlins forks/shock weight

I know that 322 Ohlins are about 7lbs lighter than stock, but does anyone know if the Ohlins real shock is lighter also?

yes it is, if you trawl through Thorstens site long enough you will find the weight, but from memory the Ohlins is around 1 1/2 lbs lighter

This post got me curious, so I weighed my shocks off my parts wall.

Stock SP2 shock 6.6 lbs

Ohlins shock with remote adjuster 7.3 lbs

Ohlins w/o remote adjuster 6.6 lbs

LOL, I'd be surprised if there was that much of a weight difference. Especially for the forks (I have Ohlins and stock, but have not measured).

OTOH, I have been wrong before.

Sorry for going metric, but 3,2kg is a lot.
OEM is 10,45kg (according to Durbahn), incl. triples and stem. Doesnt leave much for just the forks.

Most of the weight of a shock assembly is in the steel spring.
A steel shock spring weighs around 6 lbs by itself.
The Ohlins shock body doesn't weigh much. Most of it is aluminum, except for the shaft and a few other smaller parts.
A titanium spring weigh a lot less. Around half that of a steel spring.

That's abut 2/3 of a pound for the hose and fittings for the remote adjuster?
