I run the LiFe batteries in all of my bikes now. I've learned that you need to either use the same battery brand charger for their batteries or a charger that is configurable for the brand you choose. Also, Shorai has a good warranty policy.

We've had a few issues with the Battery Tender batteries here at our shop. They tried to use a "universal" battery with 4 posts and foam blocks glued to them to fit multiple models. They do work but are prone to weirdness, especially when it comes to charging. I would recommend a Shorai, Speedcell, or even the bike master if you are looking to go to a LiON battery.

CapeCodderRC - I did that with my first Shorai too. They warrantied it. The problem comes in with our bikes are designed to top off the battery collectively, so when the terminals have the charge voltage, it's done. The problem comes in when one or two cells in the pack don't get topped off because the others are getting there first, they continually end up undercharged, which ends up being memory. The only way I know to charge up all the individual cells so they each top off, is to use Shorai's charger, or one that charges each individual cell up. It has it's own BMC plug for just this purpose. I'm not saying your battery will do what mine did but beware.

I've heard the RC car battery chargers work for them as well FWIW.

LMAO , I charged the battery tender battery and this morning when I went to start it was 40 degrees out side and it sounded very weak and wouldn't turn the bike over , I tried it 7 times .... put it back on the charger and it took forever to charge back up ! I ordered a gel battery like I had before , however is there other concerns I should look at ?

So I went out and put my old gel battery back in and it still had a hard time turing over so I pulled the choke and fired up and I let it run for 15 min and rode around the neighborhood and let it set and fired it up again just to see and it started right up !

Any suggestions to why it would be so sluggish to start besides the Battery?
