Any VTR SP engine specialist in the UK / Midlands ?

Hello all,

Had my SP2 for a year now and although I have used it gently this summer gone it seems it used some oil. First question: is this a normal trait of the bike or not?

My gut feeling and looking at the parts that were installed wehn I purchased it make me think it has been used as a trackbike/racebike at some point in its life and I am wondering of the engine's internal could be a bit tired (rings, bores...).
Second query then: who's a good engine specialist in the UK and in the Midlands preferably?

Third question: can such a specialist operate a mild tune on the engine whilst he's at it? Nothing massive, just some mild gas flowing perhaps. Not a primary concern.

Thanks in advance and have a good Christmas.

JB

+1000..Roger Ditchfield is a straight up, HONEST builder that stands by his work, unlike some famous tuner/builders here in the US (ask me how I know)...you can't go wrong with Roger..he can port the heads for you, rebuild the engine..whatever you want....30+ years of experience in racing...Moriwaki UK distributor.

Just shy of 13,000. The MOTs match up and the general condition of the bike is great.

Thank you all for the replies.

I would check the breather pipes & get a leak down test before you start spending any money. Shouldnt use any oil at all really.

AFIK -Twins tend to use a little oil, I usually need to top mine up once between oil changes.
If it's not smoking with oil through the exhaust, it's probably just fine.
