The advice is to do it as soon as possible.

K&N filters actually hurt the performance of the bike while allowing way more dirt and debris into your engine.
ROGUE RC51 Airfilter questions page

The powercommander will give you better throttle response and more linear power delivery. You will need to have a custom map made by a qualified and reputable dyno tuner or you can build a map yourself with the aid of an AutoTune module if you have the knowledge to do so. It sounds to me that you likely do not posses that skill set and would benefit from a skilled dyno tuner instead.

Thanks for the advice which filter do you recommend should I refitt original filters. I will contact a power commander fitter. Are you from the uk and if so do you recommend any one as I live in Kent but will travel to find the right one

I use OEM filters.

I am based in the USA so no real clue as to who to recommend for a proper tuning over there. I've got a place Northwest of you in Lichfield and I couldn't even tell you of a single tuning shop in that area let alone down where you are, but I am sure there are some. You'll just have to get some real world input from others in your area.
