I own a 2002 Honda RC51 and it was last run in September of 2014. I am in the military and moved from Guam to the UK so the bike had to be absolutely dry so there was zero fuel in the tank. At my new base I was tasked to deploy as soon as I got here and did not have my household goods so my motorcycle stayed in storage until December 2015. The bike was not prepped for storage that long nor for the winter and again it had no gas in the tank (can't be good) and now the bike won't start. I charged the battery and reinstalled it then put fresh gas in it and expected it to start up but nothing. I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the key but when I press the start button I get nothing, the bike doesn't even attempt to start. Any idea what it could be? The weather's nice in the UK right now and I'd love to ride.
any help/advice will be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!
Don't worry about it; Gas + Fire + Air = Engine running. Sounds like the starter is not cranking the engine, unless you forgot to mention it. Find out why the starter isn't working (fuse, bad starter, wiring, etc.) fix it, and move onto the next thing until it's up and running. Storing the bike without gas should not cause meaningful problems under regular conditions.
