Diagnosing

Trying to confirm my theory with others before tearing into bike.

01 RC51
Two brothers exhaust
PCIII
K&N Filters
Tune set for Sato Pipes and aftermarket

Problems I am having:
Slow cold starts(Takes ~2 minutes to get to idle.)
Hesitation at RPM (on full throttle engine struggles to get past 5k rpm. this only happens under load.)

Issues persist without PCIII

The hesitation becomes less noticeable once the bike heats up to ~170.
I am leaning towards this being a bad/dirty fuel filter but would love more feedback.

Thanks all

it'll be either a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad fuel pump.

change the fpr anyway, as they are a common point of failure on these bikes.

FPR tested good when I was troubleshooting another issue a few months ago. This other issue has been persistant.

i would disconnect the fuel line from the throttle bodies and test the flow rate of the pump.

also, does the bike rev freely in neutral? ie unloaded is the engine fine to rev to any rpm? it's only when you load it up that it struggles?

it's most likely a fuel pressure issue then.

you can change the fuel filter quite easily. probably worth testing the flow out of the pump first though.

Looks like both filter and fpr are ~$50 each. I guess can't hurt to change both.

If you're going to change the fuel filter, then you should also replace all the hoses that are used on the fuel pump assembly.
Since the filter and hoses are immersed in fuel inside the tank, the hoses get hard as a rock over time.
I literally had to use diagonal cutters to break off chunks of the hoses when I changed my filter.
Ethanol should be in a glass with ice, not in a fuel tank.
