Help me identify what I have

Hi Guys,
I recently bought a 04 sp2 race bike. I was told it has HRC pistons, cams, race harness and ECU. It is supposed to have larger injectors too. It has a Moriwaki carbon air box and ram air, Penske shock, reworked forks, and a bunch of race bike stuff that doesn’t matter for this thread.
My question is how can I tell that I have the motor parts I was told I have? I pulled the valve covers today to check the valve clearances. Surprisingly, all were within spec, most at the tight limit. Does the HRC cams have any identifying marks on them? Can you look at my photo of my cams and tell me if they are stock cams or HRC cams?
Also, I see I have a totally rearranged wire harness. I am not sure of all of its contents, but I do see a Techlusion TFI box and some other items I don’t know exactly what they are. Can any of you identify what I have? Is the silver metal box a HRC ECU? There are no clear markings that identifies any of it as HRC. I have the feeling my harness is a hacked together stock harness with lots of connectors cut off.
Thanks for checking out my stuff. It is best to know what I really have as compared to what I was told I have.

The bigger silver box is the spark box (CDI) Google the part number on it, it's the series of numbers that starts with mcf. The ecu is the black box that is attached to your subframe with a hose clamp. Can also Google the Keihin number on that should tell you of regular honda part or something else..

Run the parts number for the ECU on google or post it up and I will tell you which one you have. Throttle bodies are stock, but can't tell with the injectors.

No idea on the cams. I will say that the Moriwaki's and stock cams look near identical. Also, i think the HRC and Moriwaki stuff is cast. Revolution/kent etc i believe were similar to the stage 2 HRC cams but are billet.

If you have anything other than a stage 1 cam, you will have an upgraded valvetrain. That may be another clue to look into. Also with the Stage 2 HRC cams, i remember reading the clearances were tighter. So i'd say the fact you are saying yours were on the tight side is a good sign.

HRC race cams. Note the lack of quieting gears.

+1

The Revolution billet cams are supposed to be close to the Moriwaki stage 2 cams as well but I've never checked mine against each other so I can't swear to it, bet someone on here knows for sure...

Moriwaki Stage 2 cams are also cast and run up-rated springs with aluminum retainers, Revolution kits run steel ones...

I have not been able to determine what ECU I have since the numbers are worn off. I found no info on the CDI box.

My camshafts are cast. They still have the quieting gears on them. I will take it that they are stock. Without the cams, I doubt that I have HRC pistons.

My wire harness looks like a cobbled together stock harness with a battery relocation setup and the gauges ripped off. If my harness is stock, I wonder if I could just get a new gauge harness and run the stock cluster again?

My so called HRC ECU is a Techlogic unit. It looks like some of the settings are not what is recommend by the manufacturer. I can still use it to get the bike how I need it. I would still like to get a dyno pull on it sometime this spring.

Oh well. It will still be a fun bike to ride. I was just hoping it would be hotter than stock. I got a great deal on the bike. I cant complain too much. I still have the Mori air box. Not that it will do much without the engine mods. I will get it tuned, and then have fun with it on the track. I am not expecting to be a force at the front of the pack anyway.

Thanks for the info and photos.

I suppose it's still possible you have the higher compression pistons (HRC) but it won't be easy to tell...IF you have the fiberglass Mori box, it often does not have an air filter, which you should consider fixing depending on what you suspect you might ingest, dusty where I live, dust can be hard on rings, the Mori box is still better than stock, which isn't shabby either...

This is the CDI box it has numbers next to black plug. If it matches numbers in picture, it's OEM.

The ecu under my power commander has a label on it. If yours is still there and matches my numbers it's OEM.
