New to me, got it up and running after sitting for some time and runs good. I am hearing a lot of noise from the engine. Seems like it’s in the front cylinder more then anywhere else. Since these bikes are new to me I’m not sure if it’s normal or not. Would love to find someone close that really knows these that could listen and tell me if it’s normal. I’d consider taking it to the Los Angeles area if I had to. Want to ride but don’t want to hurt it more if there is an issue.
See if you can listen to another one before you get too worried. The gear drive for the cams can seem noisy to those who are more used to bikes with quieter cam chains.:wink2:
Thanks for the info, now I need to find someone in the Phoenix area that owns one! I come from old school turbo Kawasaki’s that always seem to have some chain noise. This one is bad enough I don’t want to ride it until I know.
Evan's business partner is Phil, who will likely be the guy answering the phone right now. Evan is busy prepping Kyle Wyman's bikes for the 2020 Motoamerica season. Don't worry about it though, Phil is very knowledgeable as well.
My RC51 engine is at Evans and this is the one that is being built to the hilt with HRC pistons, head work, cams etc. great shop! Ask them to look at the build while you are there. 🙂
Took it down Friday. Met with Phil, super nice guy. Took him about 15 seconds to say it sounded like a rod. Glad I took it but now need to take her down some to verify. Going to pull oil and filter to check for metal and go from there. If it is I’ll have to decide if it’s going to get parted out or fixed.
I have another engine case and a set of the hrc high compression pistons to match....
