Updated Smartphone Feedback Thread

We're pleased to announce that we have launched a new smartphone view on the site, in addition to the recently added mobile view in the last upgrade. This version has been designed to have a cleaner look, to fit really nicely into mobile (iPhone, Android) browsers, and unlike most normal web based skins will also include features that are normally reserved for desktop or phone applications. We built this as we realize you all spend more time today on your phones on the forum than you did 2 years ago, and we want to get the mobile view to a place where you can do everything (and more!) that you can do on desktop.

A few notes as I know many of you may have questions:

* This does not replace the free or paid in-apps that you have, such as any mobile apps. This is web-only.
* This new skin will only show when you access the site from a modern (Android 4+, iPhone) phone. It will not show for older phones or for tablets, blackberries or windows phones.
* Please give us some time as we work through bugs. Give it a try, give us feedback in our mobile thread url, and give it a chance. Every change needs time to get used to!

If you visit the site from your mobile phone, you'll get the new view automatically. You can login, post, reply, upload photos, view your private messages and more. You can also use the legacy mobile view by choosing the top left menu and Exit Enhanced Mobile Mode.

The feedback thread for any bugs, etc, please post below.

**Please let use know the device, software version, and browser being used if reporting any issues.

Thanks!

It does have the buttons in comfy places but I think it's quite "heavy" as my Octacore 4.2.2 Android smartphone with 4Gb Ram can't scroll through adequate quickly...scrolling up or down leaves a blank space for a second that fills up with image later....

Plus, I'm quite an old fella that likes things the way I've used having them...

However it looks good for a mobile version....lots of work into it

Thank you for giving it a try! What browser are you using? I can forward your feedback to the development team for future improvements!

If you would like, there is an option to exit the mobile view and return top the normal one. located in the top left corner where there are three horizontal lines. Once you click on those lines a slide out menu will appear with the option to "Exit Enhanced Mobile View".

I have the 4.2.2 android which came with the Next Launcher Theme in it.
After trying Dolphin and Chrome browser apps, I found that the Next Browser (created by Next Launcher) is very fast and very light for the phone, really good structure and design and I stick to it.

I already have a "Desktop Mode" option provided by that Browser for any given website so no problem there.

I could try shooting a video of how the RC51forums mobile site works if you like.

As an addition, I'd say that I got lost, which is quite normal to everything new, trying to browse around the forums. Considering my age, I gotta say it's not easy to totally change using something you are used to....

The new mobile site looks nothing the same with the Desktop mode and it's quite confusing to find your way around at first....

Thank you so much for the help MakisRC51! Great video with music accompaniment! I have forwarded it to the development team and they will see if there are ways to make the mobile view load faster.

As for having an app for Blackberries, unfortunately I do not think there is one currently in the works. Sorry about that.

Glad I could be of assistance......after all it's for the greater good and this forum's benefit. This place we call "home".......

I'm not an expert on android software but my guess is that the mobile site's structure is quite heavy for smartphones.
My smartphone has an 8 core CPU and 4Gb RAM so it's not due the lack of power of procession.
I then changed it to Desktop Mode so that you can see that it wasn't due to network connection issue related either.....

I hope they figure it out
