|raleighp||Thanks guys....will do ! I have printed out all of the suggestions and will take them in with me. I am not very good with moto repairs, but the shop I go to can surely find the issue(s). Wish I were more mechanically inclined, and given more time I think I could be...hey B Miller, can you carve out some time to teach me a few things ??|

The gauges going out leads me to believe that there is a problem near the root of the power supply, even if you noticed it once it still happened and is an important clue. How about checking the connections at the fuse box as well (ya know, since we have you on a wild witch hunt already)
Back when I built cars the first things in the gremlin list were bat terminals and grounds. Especially on the Fox body mustangs since they had shit wiring at the hub on the starter solenoid (gotta love fusible links).
The electrons, you must follow.

|Hig||Now that I think about it I had a cbr that would shut off randomly on the highway or at stop lights. Easy fix was to kick my buddies ass. Never hit my kill switch again...|

Wow....ok. Didn't think about the undertail being a potential cause. Good looking out !
I used a wrench last night, so I am sure they are on securely...but as stated I will buy a new battery in June ( Paypal now has a pay in 6 mo feature ) when I have a bit cash after this next round of repairs / mods ...
Over the weekend I will spend a bit of time searching out grounding issues...

Check the battery cables again. Physically put a wrench on them and make absolutely sure they are tight. That is the culprit in issues like these 49 times out of 50.
After that start searching the length of the subframe for pinched or chafed/exposed wires. All it takes it one tiny sliver of bare wire to contact the frame when the bike hits a bump and the bike stutters. This is not uncommon either especially with a lot of users installing undertails and aftermarket exhaust brackets etc.
After that I would be looking at the tip-over sensor with suspicion.

|spoonman||What you just described used to happen to me. The bike would cut out as if no fuel was making it to the injectors, guages would stay on. This would only happen on bumpy roads though. Finally checked the ecu and it had come loose from the undertail. Put some zip ties around it to secure it in place and haven't had the problem since Hope this helps!|

OK guys...rode in this morning and a related but different issue arose. No cut out per say, but I did get a bucking motion, almost as if fuel was not making it to the injectors. The bike never cut out or off, all gauges stayed lit. It only happened once, and lasted for maybe 2 seconds. Sputtered and backfired a bit...then righted herself and I kept going.

Since the guages went out then the circuit with the problem is one that includes the guages and whatever else keeps the bike running. A check the ignition switch, ECU grounds, etc.
What was the last thing you did to the bike?
