Now it handles and sounds much better than before.

I also installed Sato rearsets for better ergonomics.
If you want a 2Bros carbon-fiber slip-on, I'm more than willing to part with it.
Performance-wise, it's not too bad. I've had to 145 and it had a bit more left.
However I do miss my RC51 when the going gets faster.
The RC51 is just so effortless compared to the FZ1.
The first thing I found was the I-4 didn't have near the engine braking of my twin. I often have to drop it down 2 gears to approach the engine braking of my Honda.
Oddly enough, the fuel range is about the same as the RC51's.
Roughly 120-130 miles per tank if ridden casually.

I've got Heli bars on my bike. They work great. The stock seat is killer on me. I need to get a Seargent or Corbin seat. That's next...

used to ride 620 miles every other weekend on the RC from Norfolk, VA to Mocksville, NC and it hurts your ass the first time but afterwords you get used to it. I put my ipod on and watch the miles climb up and enjoy the ride..........................although i made a deal (with myself of course) to stop ever 75 to 80 miles to rest for approx 5 mins and it works out pretty good. As for fuel economy when your nice on the throttle i could get up to 42-44 MPG so not too shabby.

For tires, try Michelin Pilot Road 2 or Pirelli Angels.
They should last quite a number of miles compared to the usual hypersport tires.
On my FZ1, the front is at 11K miles and going, while the previous Road 2 went 9K miles, and the current rear is a baby at 3K miles.

Man there are so many choices as for touring bikes. As for selling the the RC, I wouldn't. It's just so different. I think risers would help a little, but research before you buy. Hell if "you" want to tour on the RC then so be it. Enjoy that bad boy.

riding long distance
fellas - i've got some long distance riding coming up. approx 400 miles one way, will be doing it about every 4 days for a few months. this will be on top of the daily commute to work. so, i've got some questions -
1. anyone have a review/experience with bar risers on an rc51?
2. is this just a stupid idea on an rc51 anyway? hand position might improve, but legs will still be the same, then there's the poor fuel economy, flattening out the center of the tires with stupid miles on superslab, etc.
i'm open to any opinions, suggestions, recommendations from more suitable bikes to trade for, to f-it give it a try and tell us how horrible, to don't waste an RC on touring duties (good luck finding bags).
