I have a question about replacing the swingarm on an 02 SP2.

Looking through the Service manual it says that in order to replace/remove the swingarm you need to loosen a couple of engine bolts is this true? If so is it because the engine is a stressed member?

Also, What is the best way to brace the bike while you go through the process?

The swingarm bolt goes through the rear of the engine.
If you have rearsets with non-folding pegs, you can rest the bike on the pegs.
Otherwise I've heard of others who use a steel rod or piece of re-bar to run through the stock pegs to rest the bike on.
You'll also need to obtain or fabricate the special tool to loosen/tighten the swingarm bolt lock nuts. Refer to the service manual.

Yeah, there is a guy in the UK that has a tool on ebay for lock nut adjustment so I am not really worried about that. But I would like to make this as easy as possible for me and my crappy garage.

I'll keep looking around for ways to brace the frame.
