Anyone know of a fix to restore the color of the frame, short of disassembling the bike, stripping the frame, and recoating it?

Take it for what you want...you asked. If you have fading or missing powder coat, you're going to have to strip and recoat if you want perfection.

If you want to make the best of what's there you'll do as I suggested. Or not, and continue to wonder what to do.

Hence why I asked if it was sarcasm or real advice. I don't put it past people on forums to intentionally give the wrong advice just to satisfy some weird sense of humor. If that is a real bit of advice for a quick fix until I have time to tear into the bike, then I will follow it

While sarcasm is another service I offer I tend to be gentle on the noobs with two posts.....want those types to keep coming back as usually they are not that familiar with the beloved RC51.

Take a look at my post count, you normally don't get that many by giving bad advice. Posting whore, yes. Bad advise, no. I want you to be safe and happy with your ride.

Drop the scepticism, you'll enjoy being on this forum a lot better. Speedzilla is your place if you feel you got bad advise.

It happens a lot in Nissan forums where people with high post counts mess with people and give bad advice on purpose. Used to be a mod on a said forum until I noticed people doing that.
Thank you for the advice! I am new to rc51s, and Hondas in general. I've always had buells and triumphs.

Totally agree.
This forum is MUCH better with little sarcasm,
and no hard times. Way more positive here!!!

I actually just finished up cleaning mine.
I use Pro Honda spray cleaner and polish.
It has carnauba wax that helps.

FWIW I don't think the frame is powdercoat. It is far too fragile for that. I think it is anodizing.
Just paint...I have a bit chipping near the head stock. Which I just touched up with an acrylic touch up pen, not a perfect match but in a location that's hard to spot.;)

I knew it wasn't powdercoat. 1/2 right so to say.

Paint it is. It definitely is susceptible to friction wear.

I fixed all those issues by buying an 04. ;)
