I have read over some of the posts but did not find an answer. My clutch does not engage until the clutch is almost all the way out. I have adjusted the leaver and this seemed to help but now I can not adjust any further.

Is my problem with the plates or the fluid? I assume it is with the plates as it is not spongy and feels fine. I have not inspected the plates or anything.

Any help would be much appreciated and save some time.

How old are the plates in your clutch?
If they are the original plates, how many miles do they have on them?
Often when friction plates get worn, the engagement point gets narrower.
If you have access to a digital caliper, you can pull the friction plates and measure the plate thickness. If they have worn below the minimum service limit, you'll need to replace them.
If you haven't bled or flushed and bled your clutch linkage, it would thing as well.
Only from the standpoint of clean fluid and smooth actuation.

There is 16 000 miles and on it. I bought it at 6K and who knows if they are original. I assume so. I will try the plates and go from there. Thank you for the help

before you get to into it, i had a similer problem. Change and bleed your system. Its a simple way to troubleshoot it and it probably needs it anyway. I did mine and have not had a problem for over 1000 miles. My dumbass bought a whole new clutch before doing this

Sorry to revive an old post, but did you get your clutch fixed. My clutch is doing the same thing. It’s not slipping though. I'm trying to figure out where to start as I am off work the next two days. Bike has 8k miles but I am the 2nd owner as far as I know.

Start with the simple stuff. inspect and flush your clutch fluid with fresh bottle of DOT4. That'll tell you something about the overall condition of your clutch. You can do that without tearing into it, except for removing the fairing. just my 2 cents.
I needed a little help, the service man. download walked me through it fairly well.

I'm just about done doing a complete going-thru on mine. If you run into any questions or problems, I can probably help since this is so fresh in my mind.
