Originally I came on this forum for info about fixing a friends bike.
He needed his charging system fixed. I told him, that once it was done, I was going to keep it for a week, to ride and enjoy. He agreed.
It was a track bike converted back into a street bike, it was a lump of turd.
Although I liked the bike, I didn't like his particular bike.
I wanted one all the same.
Last season my VTR lost the front cylinder. Still haven't gotten to fixing it yet.
I have just bought myself a RVT!!!!

Here is a pic. Hope this image host works, this will be the first time using it.

I'm getting a little confused with the pre-fixes on the bike??

I know it is also called RVT1000R
And of course RC51
But the VTR100R?
SP1-SP2??

What the hell?

RVT is used in the US, VTR was everywhere else.

SP1 was for model years 2000-2001, SP2 was 2002 forward.

Easy peasy.

Having any year RC is good, each has its differences.

The SP2 was modified with a slightly different rear suspension setup, swing arm, throttle bodies (or injectors) and a few other minor things (oil cooler moved, bolts moved, etc...).

SP2 was rated to have a few extra ponies and a few less pounds.

RC is an RC...so enjoy the love as many of us have.

Yeah, I don't think I've heard of any SP1 owners kickin' themselves wishing they had an SP2.

(although for the record the '04 (an SP2) is the fastest :D :p ;))

Oh ... and welcome!!
Here here. On other forums they fight about whos make of bike is better, its usually the ducati clowns hanging it on everyone else and vice versa.

On this forum all the banter is about which year model is the best.

And for clarification...... yes the 04's reign supreme :D

Welcome.

Now now,...
If madbuyer wasn't on a trip, he would argue the 03's are the fastest...

I for one think mine is.

Good looking bike. Welcome to the forum.

Be careful, there is currently a lot of misinformation being spewed about on this forum. Let me clarify. SP1's are really the best and 2001's are a little better then 2000's, but not by much. :D

OMFG. I just came back from the first ride.
It does everything I ask and puts a big stupid smile on my face.
Like I said, I rode my friends before and had a blast on it.
Now that I am riding my own bike it's a different story.
What a load of fun I just had in the space of 2 hours!!!!!!!!
It's an RZ for big boys.

GTA...Toronto?
Not that I would run down there anyway, but just curious. Congrats on the ride!
Oh yeah, no RC/SP/RVT/VTR is a piece of turd, just a lump waiting to be morphed back into it's former grace and beauty.:D
