I have a question im thinking about buying a 2003 rc51 and i went to look at it and the guy said he cant find the key so he had hot wired the ignition switch. The bike turned over and sounded smooth but did not start. He said its because he did not have the signal wire hooked up and pointed towards the ignition wire area. I have stripped a few bikes down to the frame and built plenty of cars and i have never known of a spark signal wire to be in an ignition switch. So my question is on the rc51 does this sound like it could cause it not to spark ? Maybe a chipped key or something. I just dont want to buy it and have it be a bad ecu or something. But it a good deal otherwise. Has a lot of new after market parts braded brake lines new tires and brakes chain and sprockets looked ok all new plastics new steering stablizer and only $1750 any opinions or things i should try to see if i can get it to start before i buy it would be great. Thanks in advance to any help

The ignition switch is just a switch. You can bypass it with a paper clip.

It has nothing to do with spark.

The 51 will crank with the kill switch activated, so it could well be something to do with that.

When you toggle the kill switch does the pump prime and FI light come on the dash for a few seconds?
