Thanks guys....I found LED's for the inside of the current Gauge package. I have not liked the orange glow, so I went with White instead. I will first need to remove the old cluster, open the unit and replace the LED's with the new ones. May need to do a bit of soldering...Once I have them installed, I will send pic's
Sounds pretty cool. Once you get that cluster off and unplugged, there's seven more screws on the backside. I think they're #2 phillips head. get those out and the front lens will come right off and you should be able to easily access those bulbs. Interested to see how it works out for you.
Also, if you have the classic sunburn on your lens or lens-ring, you can get a new one for about 40 bucks @ Honda.
Lemme know how difficult putting in the new LEDs is. I have blue ones to go with my bikes colors and have for awhile, but am afraid to try putting them in for fear of screwing it all up. Afterall, a new speedo is veery veery expensive! and pics would be nice too!
Make sure your board is grounded and you are too....static electricity levels are low this time of year....that is the only danger of frying something.
Get a decent soldering iron, not the $10 one from Radio Shack.....buy a nice one with temperature controls.
Buy some solder wick, this is what you will use to remove the old solder and remove the old light. (This is okay from Radio Shack) Buy some 60/40 solder with a rosin core (Flux is already in the solder)
The Navy trained me some years ago and yes this is an art but not rocket science. (Okay, maybe misssle...)
You could take it into a radio/tv repair shop and pay at the most $20 since they already have a bench ready to go.
So grew up in a family of riders, my brother spent a fair amount of time racing when he wasn't flying f-16's for the Airforce. Many years and motorcycles later, and I've had an SP-2 fall in my lap for free. Now this is the bike my brother raced back in the day so you can imagine my...
I have used the search function but most info is from years ago and technology and products have changed.
Is anyone using or has fitted a plug and play gear change indicator to these bikes? Any feedback appreciated.
(Not an essential mod, but I ride Fireblades also and find these V-twins have...
I went on to power commander website, downloaded the application so I can interchange maps on my PC3. I bought my RC with a PC already installed, with no idea what PO had installed. Anyways I am not able to DL any maps. I go to click on the file and it directs me to select PC3 or...
I removed the tail, installed a pig-tail for a battery tender, and replaced the stock rear pegs with Sato Ti hangers.
I also Stomp-Gripped the tank...The generic sport bike Stomp-Grip cut is cheaper than the custom-cut ones, and if you install the R side upside down on the L side of the tank...
