I usually use a kerosene-based chain cleaner and grunge brush to clean my chain.
Then after it's dry, I lube it with Motorex Race chain lube.
I've tried several brands of chain lube, Castrol Chain Wax, PJ1 Blue Label, Bel-Ray Clear, etc. PJ1 slung off the worst, leaving quite a mess.
I've found the Motorex Race chain lube to be pretty good so far.
So far I've gotten around 20K miles on my RK XSO 530 X-ring chain and Vortex F5 hard anodized aluminum rear sprocket.
I check it often, but it just about never needs adjusting.
The secret to long chain and sprocket life is frequent cleaning and lubing of the chain.
The wear of the roller bushings is what wears out the chain, and then the sprockets.
Clean and lube the chain about every 600 miles using only kerosene-based or O-ring safe chain cleaner. And don't use penetrating oil or WD-40 to clean the chain.
