So happy I had to share! I had added one of the new Michellin Power Pure's up front awhile back. Finally got the back added today. These things are so light, feels like I lost 100lbs in the rear. They have tons of grip and smoothest ride ever. Id highly recommend them!!

He's soooo right about how light they feel. I've been installing my own tires for the last year or so. When these Power Pures came to my door, I was freaking out, wondering if it was just placebo effect or if they were as light as they felt when I picked them up. I wish I woulda weighed them.
Coming off Q2's, I think they're notably lighter.
I'm pretty comfy with the Q2's, but these Power Pures are just a little better. I'm only about 20% into the wear. I hope they last the 5000 miles I'm used to with the Dunlops.

Yeah man I know! But its true, they are supposed to be the lightest dual compound tire on the market right now. I went from the Dunlop Sportmax GP-A's and it was night in day in the weight. I had to re-adjust my suspension to deal with the difference. I still have to do some fine tuning on that end! But they are awesome, I just have to do a little riding to get the wax off and then I will probably be taking it to VIR this weekend to make a few runs and see how they do. I have another set of wheels that I run full track tires on when I go, but I am tempted to run a few laps on these just to see how far I can push them compared to the almost full slicks I run there.

And for tire size I am running a 190/55, and it has made a nice difference in handling I must say. Although for me being 5'6" and already having to balance on tippy toes, it took some getting used to for street riding lol

If you push those PowerPures around the track a few laps, you MUST come back here and post about what you thought and how you liked them. I need another couple weeks to get back on the road, but my last outing to Downieville was the first really serious attention mine got. And they got it good. Never wavered, got my trust pretty quick. I'd be interested to hear what you say...

No, I don't use an 8 foot 2x4. Save the money and just use an old fence post. :p
I like how they say to install a new valve stem after the tire is mounted. :rolleyes:
He must of meant the valve core.

Anyway, the video wasn't that far off of what I do. I don't use lumber, I got two spoons and a breaker bar from Cycle gear. Paid about $45 for the breaker, and about $25 for the spoons. You won't hear my tire irons clanging around, and I'm super carfull of my painted rim and lip. But I have yet to ding or even scratch my two rims. Ironically, I see the scars on the inside of the rim, where someone previously kinda butchered it with a machine.

I actually change the ones on my track wheels with something similar as well. But the tires I bought from the shop in town comes with free install and balance so what the hell. I figured I might as well let them put em on and save me the trouble of pulling it all down.

And jondog I will definitely post up what I think. From what I can tell from some harder driving today up in the mountains they seem to be very grippy for a street tire, as well as very predictable. Which is one thing I always hated about the sportmax gp-a's. It was somewhat hard to tell the limits to where you could push them. Sometimes if would feel grippy, and other times it would feel loose. I had read after I bought them that some people that used them as track tires had similar problems. There was no real scale for rating them. It seemed to change.

I got a set of Q2's from a local guy wicked deal $180 in the right sizes and couldn't pass up.

One thing I noticed that they were considerably heavier than the Michelin 2CT's.

Haven't ridden them yet, hope they are as good as everyone says.

Let me know, I want to grab another set of wheels and keep a spare set on them. Id be interested to know what you think of them. I ended up getting my front for 135 and rear for 155 installed. I don't think that was too bad.

Rear, about 36-38.
Front about 34-36.
But that's just me, my riding style, my road and weather conditions. Which is almost always dry and warm/hot.
