My 2001 RC-51 has a power commander III and I just put k&n filters on and feel that I need to remap the power commander as it seems to not run as good as it did before. My question is do I need to buy a cord from dynojet to hook from my laptop to my power commander or is it a normal usb connection? Thanks for the help as the more I ride the bike the more I am happy with it-just need to fix the small issues.

You have a PCIII what? PCIIIr or PCIIIUSB?
If it's the PCIIIUSB, then a USB cable will work, but the older PCIIIr uses a serial cable. And I'm not totally sure what the pinouts are.

Not to crap on your thread, but you just wasted your money on K&Ns. It has been proven on many dynos and racetracks that the stock RC51 filters flow more than the motor can use, even when decently modded.

You can do a serial cable to the PCIII, or just get some stock filters.

ETA: Below is a '00 SP-1 with a good map, Jardine hi-mount slip-ons, and all the 'free' mods...

A UK magazine last year compared several air filter brands on a CBR1000RR and found K&N's flow more air than stock paper.
They weren't the top dog, but were at the upper end.
The top performing air filter was the BMC Race filter.
Second was the regular BMC filter.
The BMC Race filter flowed more air due to less amount of filter material.
Good for racing, maybe not so good for street.

Yes, I was speaking strictly about the RC51 in both SP-1 and SP-2 iterations. The K&Ns actually make less power than stockers on the 51.

K & N are not effective at the RC51.
"No Toil" filters bring about more performance.
With the air box reorganisation it is even better.
I had already shown pictures of this.
134,8HP to Crankshaft : 123,4HP torear wheel
107Nm to Crankshaft

K&N sind nicht wirksam bei der RC51.
No-Toil-Filter bringen mehr Leistung.
Mit dem Airbox-Umbau ist es noch besser.
Ich hatte davon schon Bilder gezeigt.
