Its not really a mechanical problem--but I am picking up a bike today with nothing but a trailer and ratchets. Where are the preferred mounting points for ratchets? Im more concerned about the front of the bike.

i always go up through the fairings and get either the trees or the bars. (depending on the bike)tie down to the front. then i run a strap from each side through the rear wheel and tire and go back to the same side. you dont need to sinch down the rear you just want to keep it from walking side to side.

I use these on the lower triple tree and attach my ratchet straps with no issues.

Use actual ratcheting straps not the draw tight straps....those suck.

Canyon Dancer bar harnesses work very well too.

I hauled my bike round trip from Indiana to California with no issues.
