Now that I have my RC51, I'd like to take some pain out of the riding position. I've always thought of rearsets as devices that made the racer crouch more extreme, but I was wondering whether anyone has tried the adjustable type as a way to lower the pegs.

Do you happen to have the part number for the Buell pegs? BTW, my wife had a Superhawk a couple of years ago, and I found the stock riding position to be all day comfortable.

I was going to install Cycle Cat rearsets on my RC51.
I have a set on my 'Busa and they are highly adjustable.
Unfortunately, they went out of production for a while, but now only make sets for a limited number of bikes (Ducati's).

However you have to be mindful of the exhaust on either side.
If you lower your pegs too much, you'll melt your boots onto the pipes.
Most rearsets have a range of adjustment, but generally move the pegs around 1" back and 1/2" up.

i took a look at the buell pegs and i think they will fit on the rc51. they will have to be ground down just like on the superhawk. i will take one off the hawk this weekend and try it on the rc51 and let you know how it goes.

The Buell XB Lightning series, either XB9S or XB12S.
Both the same model, only real difference is engine size.
The S pegs drop the peg height by about 1".

I had an '03 XB9R Firebolt and tried the S pegs for the comfort reason, but reinstalled the stock Firebolt pegs as I preferred more cornering clearance.

i tried the buell pegs on the rc51.
they will work, with a bit more grinding.
they shouldn't drop your boots onto the exhaust. i thought that might happen on my hawk and i isn't a problem. there appears to be even more room on the rc51 than the hawk so i suspect the will not be a problem with feet on exhaust.
i will be buying a pair for my rc51.
