A friend who shall remain nameless was coming over this morning about 8 AM to have me change the oil and brake fluid in his 2000 SP1. Less than a minute after starting out he pulled out of his driveway and as soon as he hit the road the bike high sided and through him over the bars. He's ok but the bike suffered over about $1800 (not counting the exhaust) retail worth of damage. Got the R/S mirror, cowl, R/S fairing, tailsection, both brake levers, R/S clip on, bar end, R/S turn signal, and the R/S case cover. The cover is leaking so I told him not to ride it till we got it fixed. It also skinned up his 2 bros oval carbon can on the front edge and mid pipe on the R/S.

He said he was barely moving and the back end swung out and then grabbed. Lesson in this is be careful this early in the year and these things are DAMN expensive to fix. I was able to hook him up with the mirror, bar end, and tailsection in my spare parts stash but there go my spares.

If anyone's got a R/S mid pipe for a 2 Bros low round can for sale I can pass it on to him.

Needsless to say we got the bike stripped down, the brake fluid changed and he's got new parts on order. Will finish changing the oil when the new case cover gets here.

I'll probably be putting on some used parts for sale - plastics are damaged but would work OK for track day plastics or something. ABS welding on the inside would make them work fine. Just look a little toasted. :D

Shitty was to start the year!

Yeah, I see these stories every year about this time. It hasn't rained enough to wash the crap off the roads not to mention the rim bending pot holes on certain roads.

I hope nameless is okay.

BTW, I will bring mine up so you can service it too. Do I need an appointment?:D
