Hey guys, Im a new member here, Im looking to buy an RC51 quite soon. I'm okay with doing some work on a bike (as I cant really afford what clean bikes are going for). I currently ride a 2000 SV650 and love having a vtwin but its gotten a bit boring.

Anyway, the bike I'm looking at is a 2000 model that was laid over at approx 30mph. I went and looked at the bike, sat on it, etc etc, and the frame is straight. The bike needs: a clutch cover, all new plastics, a headlight, a footpeg, a brake pedal, a brake lever, and some paint. Shes roughed up, but has a clean title and I think i can get her going again for around a grand (with me doing 99.9% of the work). The price for it is $2300USD delivered to my house (about 300 miles from where it currently is).

Lets say, worst case scenario, the frame actually is bent. How much could I part this thing out for? And as a rebuild canidate, is $2300 a decent price?

13,900. I already bought it. It needs a clutch cover, right headlight, both fairings, tail plastic, front fairing, frame sliders, a footpeg, a brake lever, and new midpipes. I already bought and installed the footpeg and brake lever. I bought fairings and a manual too. Oh, and I need a battery and tires. For now, I'm just trying to get it running. Im anticipating $1000-1800 to get her going again, with paint (going with candy apple red, what it already is).

The stock plastics alone are going to run you at least $1000.
The front fairing at about $350, each side panel at around $450. The rear fender is about $395 (why more than the front fairing? I don't know why either.)
Plus the headlight, and the other parts.
But don't feel too bad. I don't have to buy a headlight, but I do have to buy two radiators.
But she'll look good when done...one day.
