Hello all, my name is Trevor and I’m a Honda hoarder. Looking to add an RC51 to the collection. I’ve wanted one for the past twenty years, I’ve had a little model of one for almost as many years. For now I’ve got;
1991 Cub EZ90
3 XR100Rs and a pit bike track
2007 XR650R
2010 VFR 1200F
2017 VFR 1200X

1984 Big Red 200
1985 Big Red 250
1986 ATC 250R

Plus a couple other non Hondas.

Anyone else in Oregon?

Welcome Trevor!

What's your budget and any specific year or condition you're looking for? I'm in Oregon as well, at some point I'll be looking to sell one of my 02 SP2's but I'm still TBD thinking about it.
I’m pretty open on budget, year, mods, miles etc. I guess I don’t want a total beater with high miles not a museum cream puff. I want to ride it, I want to do a track day because I’ve never done a moto track day, only in my Corvette. I’ve got a buyer lined up for my VFR 1200F, keeping the X and looking for a short day ride bike with character to complement the X.
Great, enjoy the process, the hunt is always fun for me. Do some research if you haven't already, there are some differences between the SP1 & Sp2 as well color differences from year to year. Any questions please ask, happy to help.
There are three on my radar right now. A $4500 2003 with 29k miles. I’ve spoken to the owner, he’s had it at least six years. It’s got aftermarket fairings, all silver.

A really beautiful 2000 with some great upgrades down by San Francisco Bay Area, $6200, 33k miles, original owner and all stock parts included. #90 built. This is probably the nicest deal within driving distance for me but it’s 8 hours each way. I have a nice enclosed trailer but very few days off.

There’s also Scott’s 2005 for sale on here, 8550 miles and $8500. In Portland so not as much of a drive as most. It’s black which looks cool but I prefer the red. I guess I could put cheap fairings on and save the black.
Hello and welcome.

as for the bikes you’ve mentioned in your post above personally I’d go for the lower mileage one and get used to the black fairings but if you do want to go on track then pick up some cheap panels as the oe ones in original condition and colours are impossible to find now or command a high price when you d.
How the heck did I miss that '05 for sale? I don't see it in the classifieds... am I overlooking something?

One is 100% stock, the other has OZ wheels, full Ti Akrapovic with PCV and dyno tune, and Fox shock. Both are in great condition with no damage or issues, both are all serviced up, both have just under 20k miles, clean titles in hand for both. Prices in the teens would probably motivate me to sell one or both. I might be pulling the OZ wheels and full Akra from the one to use on another RC51 project I just bought, if I do that bike will then have oem exhaust and oem wheels on it.

Let me know if you have any questions, thanks.

A clean low mile 05 just listed today on Facebook Marketplace, looks to be just south of Corvallis, I don't know the bike or seller but it's in the area.

Wow that’s nice but 14k is more than I’m in for. At that point I’d buy a one year old Ducati Supersport 950S.
I took my VFR 1200F for a rip the other day and I’m glad I did. That bike is wicked fast, corners way better than I can, and the sport bike ergonomics just don’t work for me. I think as much as I want to own an RC51, I probably wouldn’t ride it that much. Rode the VFR 1200X at a high pace after that and well, that bike is just perfect. Fast, fun, comfy, unique…what more could a guy want?

I saw your post and I have a 2000 RC51 I’d consider selling. Needs some new fairings. Has 43,000 miles. I also have a 2004 Honda Super Hawk that is super clean with only 2,800 miles on it. It’s a beautiful bike. Gloss black with matte gold rims. If interested let me know. Seeing you’re a collector of Hondas.
Is the riding position on the super hawk basically the same as the RC51?
The SuperHawk is much more comfortable. More like sport-touring compared to the RC.
Hi, A warm welcome. What's your budget and requirements? If you are open in budget then there are more options for you. But first, you need to know the requirements.
Disregard everything. I’m going to stick with my fast and comfy V4 VFR 1200X. Not enough time off during the fire season to ride, wash and maintain any more street bikes.
I’m doing the track day at PIR June 9th. That will be educational for me on whether or not I want a dedicated track bike. If I go that route I’d be looking at a slower, lighter, momentum bike to practice my craft.
If you eventually get one I'd like to know, I doubt your too close but maybe, and it'd be awesome to have another RC51 to ride with
