Has anybody heard anything recent about the new track close to Austin? Things were progressing great up until last fall and then it all got real sideways. The F1 and MotoGP contracts are still open, but with the construction halt it's looking fair grim for the 2013 race season. Has anybody heard some news as to whether this is going to move ahead or is it doomed? It would sure be nice to have a third venue and a comittment for 10 years of events.

F1 race/deal is on for 2012. It's been placed on the race calender by Bernie for November 18th. 3-5 year deal. Doubt that there could be three MotoGps in the US. One of the existing ones would probably be poached. Indy MotoGP could follow F1 to Austin.

It's call the Circuit of The Americas.

Last time I checked, all work on the track had ceased due to no funds due to money disagreement between the principals and the State.

A more current check shows that Bernie Eccelstone's F1 extortion fee was made, but the track is still iffy on completion.
If the money business/money issues can get resolved, it should be a nice track.

Besides F1, MotoGP was due to run there in 2013, followed by Aussie V8 Supercars.
If they could also add WSBK as well, it would be a fun venue.

Similar situation existed for the last two years: Korea, and India both got their act together at the last moment. Both races took the flag with varying states of track and facilities construction completeness.
