Hey all Ive been on the site for a while boight and sold some stuff met some real nice people and got some great advice, so kinda a blanket thanks to the community there. This Rc isn't going to up everyone's alley but here she is and here's a little back story. I was building a street fighter out of a VTR (here in the states a superhawk) actually I was almost done I had done a cbr1000rr front end and a VFR SSSA along with various other things. The direction I was heading with bike was great, next I was going to ditch the carbs and tinker with a FI system... Then I came across a hurt ass RC51 it already had the FI, better forks (that were undersprung and leaking lol) but what really sold me was the extra HP and the lovely sturdy frame. The rc came home with a rusty tank some whack paint scheme bad tires no brakes chain/sprokets that needed replaced 5k miles ago and in just in general severely neglected so i thought perfect bike to hack up and I started parting out the Hawk damn shame but the RC just out shined on every level. To my surprise I didnt go the route I first intended I started to restore the ol girl to factory specs, I appreciate the bike for what it is. I got to digging and the wirign harness was hacked up mics brackets missing inside the trunk was a nightmare so I determined this particular bike was never going to be stock and clean again without invested enough to just buy another clean one. So I diverted back to my original plan. And I must say although it isn't done this is by far the most fun Ive had on bike ever. Its a stupid blast!

Mod list is waaaaay to long to post or even remember but the autotune is really cool anyone thinking about it yes its worth it. Thats a sv650 radiator up there the sv1k rad is a inch taller and rubs the tire under hard braking. All kinds of stuff in the works like correct length throttle cables and Ive been eyeballing a Ohlins I do ride the piss out of this thing weighing in at 240lbs the race tech springs made a huge difference. I geared it 15/43 anything over say 120ish is tough so I wanted the down low rip. Questions comments bashing welcome.

Recently did a facotory pro shift star and I was impressed so figured Id throw and comparison pic up there for you's guys.

Not my style, but I am a fan of guys doing up bikes in their own way. Anyone can easily see you have spent some time on this project, and I for one can appreciate that!

Another RC51 back on the streets; that's what really matters, right?!?!
Nice work, Brian!

Hey thanks guy, I expected at least a few nay sayers glad to see a open minded forum. I'd like to add... I fuckin love my bike, seriously it's mine. I've had so many bikes it's silly, mainly sport and dirt but some naked and some cruisers. Closest this I can compare it to is a big as dirt bike that can stick a corner on the street. Ridiculous amount of fun. Been thinking about building a rowdy as motor with the focus on lo/mid range but she has plenty of juice now so if that is in future it's long after I get many many little things done that are driving me nuts. The throttle cables and I need a machine shop to make some simole but better looking Rad brackets.

Anyone got a machine shop out there and want a small job?

Yeah we've been talking back and forth he's looking for ideas that poor RC took a whippin!!! He said he really dug mine so I figured I'd share some pics with the folks that helped me out a bit along the way. I never posted here up cause I thought she either wouldn't get much interest or she'd get negative interest. Reckon I doesn't matter much cause I nailed the mark I was aiming for lol.

Ew I hate it... I'm kidding I'm downright jealous! Down the line, I am outright going to steal his front radiator mod idea. ;) As bpw said, we have been going over his setup. It's giving me the motivation to ride without having to buy cheap Chinese plastics.

Good looking out @COBRA90GT this is right up my alley :grin2:

I myself couldn't see owning this bike as my sole motorcycle. But I'd love to own that bike as a compliment to my current RC. Either way nice bike! Anyone who knows anything about rc's can see you've put a lot of work into your bike.

Thanks for the compliments fellas, Im 37 now and have slowly made the transition to where I couldn't see myself with a full on RR bike as my only bike. I used to ride nothing but full sport bikes. Then around 07-08 I bought a honda 919 also know as the hornet. Immediately I was like "wow riding can be comfortable" but in the same breath I down shifted and whacked the throttle and was like "whoa where's the motor" I did some upgrades lightened her up exhaust PC lighter rotating parts ect got her making some more ponies started throwing her around in corners and was like "WTF does this thing even have a frame or suspension" the twist the wobble and the wiggle were insane if you were trying to ride it like a sport bike. So I swapped out the forks wasn't much I could do with the mono frame and the 9er was Ok, great for what she was built for but not what I was looking for after a lot of effort I sold her

I tried a z1000 the a fz1 (really really tall bike) the another z1000, the Z got closest to the mark. Then I decided Im a nich market and there just wasn't a bike available to me that was what I wanted. So Ill make it. First "street fighter" (hate that term) I had was a cbr 600 awesome light fun, then I did a gsxr1k that bike was really freaking cool but just didn't 'do it' for me. I had 2 Tlr's in the past and loved the vtwin for around town stuff and have always been a fan of honda build quality. Which lead me directly to the Rc51. And Im glad it did... hands down favorite bike ever! and It'll always be a work in progress. Yesterday I went and put some different clamps on it the lower the bars about 30mm I felt like they were to high so we'll see if this is any better.
