Has anyone here repainted or touchup their frame or swingarm? My problem is the core black metalic that I got from color rite to paint my swingarm is darker and glossy. it's such a mismatch from the frame that I'm not happy with it at all. When I scuffed the fresh paint (intending on repainting) with gray scotchbrite, I noticed the match was pretty close. Lost the gloss and didn't look as dark. It's still a shade darker though. I was thinking about repainting with the same can and a superfine steel wool light scuffing after. Color-rite says it's not their fault, and offered to analyze the paint if I want to return the can. Doesn't sound to promising to me?

instead of a gloss or metallic
use a flat black. I use it on my aprilia swingarm and you cant notice any difference whatsoever. i cant even find the spots i painted. i used to have a website with eery oem paint code for the bike and the spray for sale in a can. if i find it ill post it for you

Yea, that's a good idea. And we tried a couple diferent flat blacks, but my frame color is defenatly a really dark charcoal rather than true black, and color matching it, even from the auto paint distrubuters, is pretty tough. Anyway, I repainted it, and superfine steelwool and it's fine. really close, so just has to be good enough. I'm 95% done now, just need to put the decals on to be completly done and on the street. Oh yea, also waiting for the harris pootpegs. Any day now...

Yea, and we did over the past couple weeks. We had color charts from my buddy's paint supplier and all that. I tried about 3 different paints that seem to always look different than the sample on the chart. I ran out of patience. I finally ended up using the Core Black Metalic and steelwooling (very carefully!) Now that all the plastics and wheel and chain, rearsets, etc., you really don't notice unless it's pointed out. I'm thinking my frame have may been exposed to a lot of sun and UV. maybe that's why it's so hard to match. Oh well, I've moved on:eek:
