PC 5

All, have an SP2 with the standard mods (flapper, pairing valve, KN air filters, Lady Bird cans and mid pipes). The supply of PC 5's is slowly dwindling.

Anyone out there with any recent experience with the PC 5? Are they worth the small $$ to purchase and install? Are maps still available? This bike is 20 years old, but such a classic. I do not plan on letting this go anytime soon...

Any advice is greatly appreciated?

i looked for pc5 maps on dynojet website last week and they seem to have disappeared
I need one as well as I have the same mods as @alpha_sum

I have a dynojet shop/tuner about 5 minutes away I was going to use for a dyno tune.

They do mostly cruisers/Harleys but figured they could do pretty well on the RC.?

I'm pretty green with this though as I've never used one on my previous bikes
If you're capable of tuning a carburetor , you can tune a PC without a downloaded , somewhat generic map.
Maybe a silly question, with a PC5 and a competent tuner on a dyno, there's no messing with the engine for your tune (a/f) its simply programing on the PC5. Is that correct?

On a dyno , they should be doing a custom map. Why bother with a dyno to just download a generic Dynojet map ? You can do the custom map yourself with a lambda sensor and an O2 meter.

Yea, we're on the same page. Appreciate it
Those that have had dyno tunes on their RC's, any idea on the going rate?

Just got a quote for roughly 500 bucks just for the tune.
Just searching around and to my surprise dynojet apparently released a PC6 for us recently

Sorry to hijack here @alpha_sum

I'm new with these programmers (obviously) but sounds like theres no ability to adjust accel pump settings on the PC6 like you can on the PC5. Please correct me if that's not accurate.?

I ended up ordering a new PC5 from Kyle Racing. He mentioned he has just a few left for the RC FWIW
I'd have gotten the 6 , it does timing as well.
My understanding is the the PC6 has been forced on DynoJet due to EPA regulations. According to Mike at Kyle Racing DJ legally had to remove all of the PC5 maps. PC3 maps can be upgraded to PC5 or as someone stated earlier there is a process for creating your own maps.

By the way, thanks to all who responded.

Are any of you guys located in the southeastern US?

I Didn't know they had done away with the pc3 maps, i hope these ones lasts a long while then as I’ve got two of them on different bikes
Thanks for the update on that @alpha_sum

The tuner I'm going to use (spoke with him at length regarding the RC) was pretty against the direction DJ was going with the PC6, and much preferred the PC5. The emissions comment makes sense now..

Glad there are a few 5's left!!
From what I've read , the PC6 does timing as well , like my PC 3R does.
do we know if the old PC Maps work on the PC6? Or just the 5? I was thinking of getting the PC6 and I emailed and called DJ but havent received any response by email or their call back feature :(

You don't need their generic maps if you can find someone able to map it. If you can find someone that still knows how to tune a carburetor , they can tune EFI. It really isn't magic.

I got all of the old maps on a hard drive somewhere. I’ll try and find it. Want me to send it to you when I do? I just ordered the PC6 so hopefully the maps work with it. I’m running a full hindle system with a pc2…..but it’s a piece so I’m finally upgrading after 20 years of ownership

Yeah that would be great. I would appreciate it really
