Good Day,

I just had the bike out for a ride today and after some city riding and cruising at about 90km/h, I went to pass a car on a country road, shifted into a higher gear then another. After going into fourth gear and 7000rpm, the engine just stopped! I pulled over, checkout the bike but nothing. I started the bike again no problem and headed home without any issue. I didn't try to do over 5k rpm though. Could this be because I installed Proton flashers? I removed the battery yesterday and put it in today. I also have a PCIII. Did the maps get reset?

Another note, is I see a carbon (or whatever it is) ring around the inside of my left exhaust can. Its is about 4 in long at the outer part. They are Sato low mounts. Is this normal?

Thanks!!!

Your map didn't reset. At least it's not supposed to.
When your bike died, did you lose instrumentation and lights too?
You mentioned you removed your battery, the easy guess here is a loose battery connection.
My other guess is you have a wire grounding to the bike. Any FI codes flashing after this incident?
You should do the Clear Codes process, so if anything in the future happens, you know it's not old stored codes.

Electrical is good and the instrument lights were still after the motor cutout. Also, no FI codes and oil is fine.

I just thought someone ran into this problem before?

I did have a sort of similar experience on a couple occasions, but I always got a FI light after it happened. One was a loose TPS connection, (code 8), one was a chaffed wire to my Ignition Pulse Generator, (code 19).
I've had some trouble with chaffing wires near the left radiator due to improper harness routing.

I guess I'd try unhooking the Power Commander and go from there.

Did you replace your blinker fluid when you installed the Protons?

You are going to have a hard time figuring out what it is until you can repeat it. I would guess that it was a loose battery connection. If/When it starts doing it again, start eliminating things. I would start with the power commander. But again, you need to get the problem to repeat itself before you can figure out what is happening.

And as jondog said: check wiring around anything that could rub through. Under the tank going into the tail is another common area.

Thanks fellas, I'll take her for a rip tomorrow, close to home just in case she doesn't start.

I just did an oil change, started her up and sounded normal.

No one answered the carbon/whatever around the inside of the Satos.

Yeah, the blinker fluid was low and I noticed that there were fours wheels with drum brakes all around;)

I Think I found the problem

After reading and reading, I noticed that people started talking about the Tip Over Sensor. I had a look at mine and it was zap strapped to the frame and not properly mounted on the undertail. This is my fault when I was installing the undertail. I thought the TOS was not an important part that needs to be positioned properly. I will take the bike out tomorrow for a test run.
