i know that a few of the uk boys are now using this on road sp,s

i believe its really popular with racing teams for obvious reasons being the ability to quickly remove a brake caliber or master then refit with out needing to bleed the system .

it also states NOT FOR ROAD USE ! but then again when did any one listen to that BS ?

for me .. i remove strip and clean my brake calibers every year and this would be a god send ..

the couplings are not cheep .. at around £70 per unit + new brake lines :O

so what are your thoughts ?

is there a cheaper alternative ?

are they safe ? i only ask as i see cheep hydraulic quick release couplings leaking far to often ..

(British braking specialists Venhill have developed a quick-release dry coupling for their Powerhose Plus braided brake lines )
Fitting a quick-release coupling allows riders to separate and reconnect a brake line without brake fluid leaking out or air getting in to the system. QR couplings are particularly useful for endurance racing, when callipers and/or master cylinders need to be replaced quickly and easily, without the need to bleed the system.

The male 1/8th BSP thread on the coupling fits directly onto the swivel nuts on Venhill’s Powerhose Plus hydraulic brake and clutch lines. It holds the hydraulic hose together securely with bayonet locking, yet can be separated in seconds by hand, without any tools. Venhill Powerhose Plus lines are available in a wide choice of modular lengths, so replacing original lines with a QR set-up is straightforward.

Designed for use with popular grades of brake fluid - DOT 4 , DOT 5.1 and DOT5 - the QR coupling is made from lightweight aluminium.

hang on....


you remove, strip and clean your brake calipers every year, but you can't be bothered to bleed them?

you should be bleeding the brakes with that service, so i don't see how this is of any benefit at all

They are really cool parts and I have used them on my track bikes in the past because thats the kind of stuff I do, but they are totally unnecessary for anything less than top tier racing and the cost is a little high for what you get. They also tend to stick out pretty far on many different calipers due to the angle of the hole and that tends to put them in perfect position for getting damaged in even a minor lowside.

really? your on it then...

as your brake fluid will not be changed at a honda main dealer until 12000 miles and if you test it periodically then as long as it meets wet boiling point of 155 °C its good for DOT4 ..

i think its a good idea tad pricey tho especially as i would like 3 of them :(
