I was on my was home and was going pretty quick when I got the fright of my life. Someone started tapping me on the back!

At least thats what it felt like, turns out that my seat unit came loose and hit me in the back. Luckily i retrieved it from the road.

the part that locks the seat in place appears to have broken but I cant tell how it broke or how to fix it.

Need some help guys, pics attached

You'll see the pictures in Kwtoxman's thread shows the metal bracket you seem to be missing. The little bolt that holds that bracket is what came loose and caused the malfunction. Same thing happened to me on my SP1 at about 100mph. I just put the locking mechanism back together, and ensured the little bolt was snuggly tightened when I got home.

It happened to me once too - the first time I lost a seat cowl...
Use: http://www.bike-parts-honda.com and you can find any part number specific to your UK model SP1. Then order what you need from David Silver Spares online.

Make sure you use loctite on the new bolt so it can't work it's way loose again.
And if you fit a small ring & bungee as I showed on Carlos' project thread, it can never happen again, even if the cowl cover's not fitted properly into the lock.

Cheer up, I've lost a total of 3 cowl covers so far and none of them tapped me on the back.... That was God giving you a nudge there! :D
