Can anyone please provide me with the correct part number for an SP-1 steering stem? I have been on RonAyers.com, BikeBandit, etc and they all seem to differ.

The three part numbers I have come up with are:

53219-MCF-000
53219-MCF-D00
53219-MCF-D30

RonAyers.com says that each of the above part numbers will fit an RC-51 from 2000-2006. I know that can't be so because I know there is a difference between SP-1 and SP-2 steering stems.

I'm needing an SP-1 steering stem. Where is the best place to find one?

Sailor - you are the man. Thanks a million.

As an aside, how exactly do Honda part numbers work? Obviously it looks like the first 5 digits are for steering stems. Not sure about the middle letters. Then it looks like the last 3 characters are for particular colors or model years.

I'm not really privy to the part number scheme by Honda.

From looking at numbers for different years of RC51 and other bikes, it seems the 1st sequence is the main part, the 2nd sequence has to do with model year or variation of the part, and the 3rd sequence is yearly or minor variations of that model.

Honda is known to use the same part on many different model bikes.
The front calipers are the same as on the CBR600F4I (except in black). The front brake master cylinder is frequently used, etc.

If a part is used across model lines, you'll see a variation in the 2nd sequence.

For instance, the radial master cylinder for the '04 CBR1000RR (PN 45510-MEL-006) is the same as the '09 CBR1000RR (PN 45510-MFL-006).
What's the difference between the MEL and the MFL in the 2nd sequence? Different reservoir design.
The '04 uses a reservoir cap with two screws (same as RC51) while the '09 reservoir cap screws on.

That's how I came to use the parts listings from MrCycles for my research.
They sort the numbers out for that specific year, as opposed to the other sites that lump all the numbers together and have you sort them out.

Came in real handy when I was ordering bodywork and wiring harnesses for my '02.

Difference in 2000 & 2001 steering stem

Any one know the difference in a 2000 and a 2001 steering stem? They are both suppose to be SP-1 stems but they have different part numbers and are priced differently.

Should be the same except maybe a subtle part number difference for model year.
The price is due to supply and demand. Yep, even for the same part.

The master cylinder for an '04 CBR1000RR is the same as an '09 (except for fluid reservoir cap). The '04 is less expensive for the same major part by $20.

If you go to RonAyers.com and punch in 53219-MCF-000 is says it has been superceded by part # 53219-MCF-D00.

Is D00 an SP-1 stem and D30 an SP-2 stem?

Anyone know the difference?

Thanks Sub.

I'm gonna give the D00 a shot and see if I can make it work.

Stilll haven't figured out yet why the guy I bought the forks from went with a 929 lower. It is flat and hits my oil cooler/fairing mounting bracket. I definitely have to have a gull wing lower.
