I'm a serious buyer for a perfect (or damn near perfect) 2003-5 RC51. I'd prefer stock, but intelligent mods (quality exhaust system, tuned Power Commander, braided brake lines) would be OK. Squid-type cosmetic changes are not welcome. I'll pay a very fair price for a bike within 350 miles of Gainesville, Georgia (zip 30504), or that you're willing to deliver. Call Mark @ 770-654-5819.

Thanks for the tip. Ft. Lauderdale is about a hike and a half from Gainesville. I've made a couple of long drives towing a trailer to look at bikes that were described as pristine, only to make the return trip with the trailer still empty. I'll just have to be patient, not one of my strengths these days.

Yep, I've had those same experiences myself, and like you, I
find it hard not to rush out and buy the first thing that comes
along, especially when you've got the hots for a particular bike
or car. And invariably, just as soon as you've rushed out and
made the purchase, that pristine bike comes along, and always
at a cheaper price - Never fails! I've not yet figured out the
demographics for the RC51, most of the ones I've come across
have the steriotypical goof-ball "squid customizations", you know
the look I'm talking about, and that always sends a red flag up for
me. Not interested. Rational modifications which actually serve a
useful purpose, as you mentioned, are acceptable and generally
reflect a more, uh, "mature" rider if you will. Good luck in your hunt,
I'm looking myself, but the wife wants hardwood floors put down
in the house, about a $6k project, so no new toys for me.

There appear to be a few nice, stock bikes around, but knowing my pattern, I'd be compelled to add the exhaust system, Power Commander, and braided brake lines, close to $2k in additional stuff. I'm also beyond enjoying the thrill of wrenching, so if I can find one with this stuff done (properly), I'd rather pay a premium for it and have a turnkey toy.

I was looking for a clean RC51 and spent about a month of Saturdays and countless phone calls searching for the bike I wanted. After several dissapointments, and several hundred miles looking. I lucked out and found a super clean 2000 RC51 with all of the correct modifications 30 miles from my home. Marco keep looking and be patient, the right RC51 is out there.

Thanks for the input, but I definitely want a 2002 or later bike due to the upgrades done by Honda. I rode a 2000 from one of the London suburbs down to Brighton and back when I was in England on a consulting gig, and wasn't taken with the fuel delivery or super-firm suspension.

I'm going up to Charlotte, NC on friday to check out a 2004 Nicky Hayden edition with ~3300 miles at a dealership. Since I live in Georgia, no sales tax, so the OTD price is acceptable.

Bought mine last year on E-bay, 1200 miles, '03, owned by a former Honda MC Tech. Exhaust, sprockets, tons of Honda spare parts, including NEW TIRES.
bidding was up to $6500. , I said the hell with it, and pulled the BIN trigger for $7K. The bike was 120 miles from my house, ALMOST the smartest move I ever made.

The smartest, was buying my 30K mile, loaded, black C-5 Corvette on E-bay, no reserve, 3 years old, for $27K. Dealer retail was $36-$37K at the time. BTW, I bought the car sight unseen, it was, and still is, GORGEOUS!

interested?

i have a 2005 rc51 with 889 original miles. it is in great condition. it does a a couple of nicks on it so not perfect but really close. the bike is the black model. it does have several extras. i do have all stock parts to go with it as well.

i have 2 exhaust.
Jardine full Ti 2 into 1
Arrow Carbon Race hi mount slip ons
Gilles rearsets
Gilles chain adjusters with GP hooks
Vortex sliders
Vortex adj. levers
Vortex clip ons
New pirelli corsa iii's
Galfer super bike lines
cbr rear hugger
Puig dbl bubble windscreen
power commander
hyperpro steering damper
led turn signals
custom license bracket
Vortex swingarm sliders
stomp grip on tank

the bike looks great, it does have a few small nicks from sitting in previous owners garage but these are not bad at all, just wanted to let you know it wasn't perfect before you got your hopes up.. this bike is my baby and would only sell for the right price. the price is high but i don't think you would find a nicer and lower mileage bike anywhere. 8750.00 with either of the exhaust. located in murray,ky. clint 270 978 6450 if no answer please leave voicemail. i will send pictures if you supply me a email address.

It sounds like a possibility, but I'll be making the run up to Charlotte tomorrow to check out the '04 Hayden edition that I mentioned above. I may be back to you if that one doesn't work out.

Well, I just got back from Charlotte after a 210 mile ride on my new (old) RC51. The Hayden bike was as described, flawless and totally original. As for the trip, damn, these sportbike ergonomics are rough on old men! It's no worse than my ZX10R, but definitely not a Goldwing.

For the curious, the tab was $6995, certainly not out of line with several, lesser bikes I checked out in the Atlanta area. BTW, the dealer, Team Motorsports has some fantastic prices on new bikes (mainly leftover '08 models).

Congratulations, Marco, sounds like your patience paid off, and you
got the model you really wanted.

As Allen said, post up some pics for us all to drool over, especially
guys like myself who have yet to own an RC. I recently considered
an Aprilia, and as nice as they are, I came to my senses and decided
Honda was the only way to go.

Thanks for the support. The pics will come as soon as I can get my Windows Vista and the software for my Canon digital camera to get on with one another.
