Considering swapping engines in the RC51. Currently has the original motor and is smoking worse than a two stroke. Compression is good (haven't done a good leak down test) and installed new valve seals. Still burning oil at a far more than acceptable rate.

So I'm looking at swapping the motor out and playing with the other one on the bench. What is involved with changing to an SP2 engine? My concern is with the engine management.

Thanks,

biggest difference is the exhaust ports (headers), and i think the intake side is larger too due to the larger throttle bodies

No difference in the intake runners between the two.
The SP1 throttle body isolators will fit.
The exhaust ports on an SP2 are D-shaped, but the SP1 headers should bolt on.
